Spirit of the Century
A Pulp Pickup Roleplaying Game
I will finally get to play SotC, and am very excited! So in addition to the two play aids offered below, I will collect some actual play notes on this page.
Actual Play
The twist is that there's only two of us playing, one player, Dahlman, and I as the gamemaster. This made character creation a little less fun, since there were no novels to guest star in, but we still had a good time. We still followed the full character creation rules, but only came up with one novel, and left the two guest star slots open if more players join in. We did generate 10 Aspects though.
Dahlman came up with a character concept of an explorer. Max Blixt ("blixt" means "lightning" in Swedish) is the son of a famous and very successful Swedish ambassador. Max spent his youth moving from one area of the world to another, getting enrolled in one school after another. He would rebel against his father by cutting school, and exploring each new country they stayed in.
Max Blixt's mentor was captain Chip Wreck, who dissapeared at sea during the Great War. Max's only novel was called, "Max Blixt and the Biscayne Bay Pirates." It featured Max as a stowaway aboard a ship, "See Max Blixt outwit a pirate fleet on his own, and earn a mortal enemy while doing it!"

Stress dealt to non-character targets is doubled.
I will now brush up on the rules, and prepare a couple of ideas for our first session next week. It will be odd playing with just two players, as we've been at four for the last year and play so well together. Hopefully we can capture some of that dynamic even with just the two of us playing what's essentially a solo adventure.
I'll post more after we play our first session.
